Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Astro API collects, why, and the rights you have over it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). If anything here is unclear, contact us.

What we collect

• Account details - name, email, and (if provided) company name and country, when you register.
• Birth details - the date, time, and place you enter to generate a chart. These are only stored if you save a "birth profile"; one-off tool lookups on the free pages are not saved to your account.
• Chat conversations - if you use the AI astrologer, your messages and the replies are stored so the conversation has context. Message content is encrypted at rest and automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity on that conversation.
• Payment information - we never see or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Razorpay; we keep only the transaction outcome (amount, status, a reference id).
• Usage data - which API endpoints you call and when, for billing and abuse prevention.

Who we share it with

• Razorpay - processes payments and subscriptions on our behalf.
• Anthropic - powers the AI chat astrologer. Your chart data and questions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a reply; Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
• Shopify - if you install our app on a Shopify store, we exchange the minimum data needed to run the embedded widgets on that store.

We do not sell personal data to anyone, for any reason.

What we deliberately don't collect

We never ask for or store a prediction about an unborn child's sex - our AI chat is hard-coded to refuse this under the PCPNDT Act, and no such field exists anywhere in our data model.

Your rights

You can, at any time, from your dashboard:

• Export a full copy of your account data as a JSON file.
• Delete your account and everything tied to it, permanently and immediately.

Retention

We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active, plus whatever period Indian tax and financial record-keeping law requires afterward. Chat conversations are purged automatically after 90 days of inactivity, in line with the DPDP Act's storage-limitation principle.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
